AUR sets maximum conditions for voting a new government. Supporting a cabinet of technocrats is out of the question

The leader of the AUR senators, Petrisor Peiu, declared on Tuesday that the formation will not vote for a government that has a prime minister other than an AUR prime minister, excluding the support of any other option, informs News.ro.
The leader of the AUR senators, Petrisor Peiu, stated in a press conference that the AUR will only vote for a government that is led by an AUR prime minister.
“The condition we set for participating in a possible government is to have the prime minister and to be certain that certain essential points in the government program are exactly the opposite of the measures taken by the Bolojan government, because otherwise, why would it make sense for us to participate in a government that would do exactly the same thing that the Bolojan government did? (…) So we don't vote for a government that has a prime minister other than an AUR prime minister, we don't vote for a government that we are not from party and (…) we do not vote for a government led by an independent, who is a member of the European Parliament representing a party”, Peiu emphasized.
Also, the spokesperson of the AUR, deputy Ștefănița Avramescu, considered it “strange” to have a prime minister leading a party, PMP, which did not pass the electoral threshold in the last parliamentary elections, referring to the speculations that Eugen Tomac could be nominated as a candidate for the post of prime minister.
“It is a bit strange, however, that the president of a party that in the last elections did not manage to get even 2% of the votes to be the prime minister's proposal. But, as far as we are concerned, we have said very clearly, as long as we are not part of a government, we do not understand why we should vote for him. Yes, we will vote for a government we are part of or if we give the prime minister”, said the spokesperson of AUR, MP Ştefaniţă Avramescu.
He also showed that “Romania does not need a technocratic government at the present time”.
“We need a government that has a political commitment, not technocrats. As for a political government, as long as the AUR is not part of a government or does not provide the prime minister, there is no reason to vote for him”, Avramescu also stated.
