PSD accuses a “Nazi-type campaign directed against its members and supporters”: “Techniques like Goebbels during the Holocaust”

PSD announced that it will notify the National Council for Combating Discrimination and the Prosecutor's Office regarding the online campaign in which party members are portrayed as rats, after Ilie Bolojan stated that he found rats in the “state pantry”. The Social Democrats claim they are being targeted by a coordinated Nazi-style campaign.

“It is clearly a coordinated campaign, with its own style and a unique conception, which aims to denigrate a category of citizens, by using dehumanization techniques previously used on a large scale by the Nazi regime, under the coordination of the sinister Minister of Propaganda, Joseph Goebbels, with the aim of justifying the atrocities during the Holocaust,” says a PSD statement.

“In the absence of a delimitation, the prime minister becomes a co-author”

The social democrats claim that after the “insulting statements” of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, he should have distanced himself from this “Nazi-type campaign”.

“In the absence of a delimitation, the prime minister becomes a co-author of this illegal propaganda,” states the quoted source.

The social democrats claim that the association of PSD members and sympathizers with “images that produce disgust and repulsion” is a violation of anti-discrimination and anti-fascist propaganda legislation.

“In the practice of the CNCD, any behavior that leads to the creation of an intimidating, hostile, degrading and offensive framework based on the political beliefs of some people, represents an aggressive act of harassment, which must be sanctioned according to the law,” the PSD statement also says.

The PSD communiqué comes in the context in which the head of the Government compared the state companies' situation to “rats eating away at supplies”.

“When I opened the state pantry, I found some rats gnawing the supplies and I put the light on them. And that was disturbing,” said Prime Minister Bolojan, on Friday, at RRA.

Anti-PSD social media posts. Grindeanu spoke of “deworming”

Later, a series of images or even clips appeared on social networks in which PSD members were presented as rats, often chased away by the liberal prime minister.

In reply, PSD president Sorin Grindeanu used the term “shobolanism”, also in an interview on the public radio station, referring to the intention of listing some state companies on the stock exchange.

“The reform of profitable state companies, let's sell them, is this reform? This is robbery. This is ratism. To sell profitable companies in a period of economic crisis, this is the real ratism,” the PSD president accused. In a post on Facebook, the PSD leader also said that “it's time to exterminate Victoria Palace”.

Also on Saturday, Bogdan Trif, the PSD Sibiu leader, posted on Facebook a clip with a rat that had the figure of Ilie Bolojan. Bogdan Trif stated that “rat Bolojan, the country's first suicide bomber, fired his army of bots”.

How Bolojan explained his statement

Asked, Sunday evening on B1, if he was referring to the PSD when he spoke of “rats in the pantry”, the prime minister said: “I was referring to areas in the Romanian state that are systemically parasitized, where because I put the spotlight on them, I took measures, I can no longer continue this parasitism. That was disturbing. Those who were there had political support. I cannot afford to throw mud at one party or another,” answered Bolojan.
