The unaffiliated deputy George Becali showed on Thursday night with the decision of the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) on publishing statements of wealth and interests, stating that this represents “a return to normality”. “Do everyone have to know my wealth and my money from the account?
The CCR has previously decided that the statements of wealth and interests should no longer be published on the website of the National Integrity Agency (ANI), and these statements no longer have to include the revenues and goods of the spouses.

What does George Becali claim:
- “When I was asked to make the declaration of wealth, I said that I would write down that this statement is only valid for the state institutions. As such, it does not prevent anything anti -corruption. The declaration of wealth will continue to be made, but they are only valid for the parquet, years. It is no longer publicly valid. Well, what? Do everyone have to know my wealth and my money on your account? It doesn't suit me.
- You see if there is this throughout Europe. That is, now, when we come to normal and when we do not affect the private life through the Constitutional Court … “It is not good”, that we want to be more moist than all of Europe. Do you see any country in Europe has the public statement at all the people?
- They are not kept secret, they are secrets to the general public. There are some statements of wealth to which the state institutions have access. If someone is corrupt and something appears there in the declaration of wealth, the institution, the prosecutors, years I can see. So I can investigate!
- I say my experiences, what I feel. This is my experience, that is, it doesn't suit me. My opinion was back to normal.
- Those-how many houses, what actions do you have to what companies-yes, I say how much, but I do not agree, I felt stupid when I had to say my money from the accounts. Why? It's a violation in private life.
- I passed them, because I had nothing to do, but I got angry! I saw, I wanted to pass X, then the counselor came and told me that I can't pass X. Well, I pass X! I don't want to tell them what money I have!

George Becali was also asked how he sees the reaction of the gold leader, George Simion, after the CCR decision. “His job, I am interested in what Simion says …”, the businessman replied.
George Simion posted a message on Facebook as a result of the decision of the Constitutional Court by which the publication of the statements of the state dignitaries and employees, as well as the declaration of the revenues and wealth of the spouses was declared unconstitutional. Simion says the decision “that's exactly what some deserves”, with references to Ukraine, France and the LGBT community.

Basically, by Thursday's decision of the RCC, which is final and mandatory, the statements of wealth and interests will be kept secret.
According to the Court, statements of wealth and interests will no longer be published on the websites of other public institutions, where those who have to declare their assets, because the “right to the protection of privacy” are violated.
The decision of the constitutional judges will produce effects for the future and does not concern the statements of wealth and interests filed before the publication of the decision in the Official Gazette of Romania.
The National Agency for Integrity (ANI) considers that the CCR decision “cancels the public character of the declarations of wealth and interests” and “can violate all the commitments made by Romania in international level in the last 20 years in terms of the fight against corruption and ensuring the integrity in the public office”.
