A resident of Krasnoyarsk, through the court, obtained a refund for a lawn mower that broke down shortly after purchase. Specialists from the regional Office of Rospotrebnadzor helped the consumer resolve the dispute.
In the spring of 2025, a man purchased a gasoline rider from an online store for 209,990 rubles. He was able to look at the packaging externally at the point of delivery, but he was unable to fully evaluate the operation of the lawn mower. The Krasnoyarsk resident was unable to do so – the weight and dimensions of the order did not allow it.
The malfunction appeared during the first use. After 10 minutes of operation, the rider began to make extraneous noises, and after another 5 minutes the belt broke, after which the lawn mower stalled and stopped performing its functions.
After contacting the hotline, the seller invited the male owner to deliver the equipment to the service center. Before transportation, the Krasnoyarsk resident decided to clean the equipment according to the instructions, but discovered that the kit did not include a fitting for connecting a water hose.
The specialists repaired the lawn mower for a month, but still did not install the flushing fitting. The man refused to take away the defective equipment.
“The situation has dragged on. After 45 days of waiting, the man began to demand a refund, but the seller refused. A written complaint also did not bring any results. Then the consumer went to court. Specialists from the Rospotrebnadzor Department got involved in the case and provided the necessary assistance in legal defense,” the department said.
During the trial, the parties entered into a settlement agreement. The purchase and sale agreement was terminated, and the company LE MONLID LLC undertook to pay the buyer 260,000 rubles. This amount included the cost of equipment, penalties, compensation for moral damage and other expenses.
