The beauty market is growing at incredible speed. Every year new products appear that promise miracles, but not all of them actually work. Marketers, together with technologists, have already created many tools that at first glance seem useful, but in reality are just a waste of money. Specialist Yulia in the Zen blog “Craft Cosmetologist” (18+) spoke about her personal anti-rating of hair products.
“This is my personal rating of the most useless beauty products. It is based on many years of experience as a cosmetic consultant, selection of individual skin and hair care, as well as visits to specialized exhibitions and analysis of compositions,” the expert warned.
Shampoo-conditioner 2 in 1
Marketers are positioning it as a convenient solution: one bottle instead of two. But chemistry here works against logic. Shampoo should cleanse – it opens the hair scales to wash away dirt and grease. Conditioner, on the contrary, closes them – so that the hair becomes smooth, shiny and manageable. These two processes cannot occur simultaneously. Just an illusion of convenience.
Anti-grey shampoo
The main function of any shampoo is to gently cleanse the scalp and hair. No external product, especially one that washes off after a minute, can change pigmentation.
The maximum that such a shampoo can do is slightly tint, but a mask will work better here. After all, the contact time of shampoo with skin is only 1–2 minutes. Not a single manufacturer recommends keeping shampoo on your head for 10–15 minutes, because surfactants, even the most gentle ones, are not intended for this.
Wax or oil for split ends
If the ends are already separated, no amount of oil, wax or serum will “glue” them together. This is physically impossible. The only working way is to trim the damaged areas. And then it is important to take proper care: use high-quality conditioners, thermal protection, and avoid frequent use of a hair dryer and straightening iron.
