In France, a hospital was evacuated due to an artillery shell in the patient’s rectum – media

The 24-year-old man was reportedly rushed to the hospital emergency department late on January 31 in severe pain.

During the operation, doctors discovered an artillery shell from the First World War, about 20 cm long, in his rectum.

Due to the risk of an explosion, the hospital was evacuated and a cordon was set up around the department. Sappers and firefighters were called to the scene.

Experts declared the projectile safe. It was removed during surgery.

The prosecutor's office may open a case for illegal handling of ammunition. The man himself, a French citizen, is awaiting interrogation.

The reasons why the projectile ended up in the man’s body were not officially stated.

French media write that doctors in Toulouse are already “used to treating” patients who were injured during sex games.

Thus, in 2022, the hospital was already evacuated due to an 88-year-old patient with a similar artillery shell that was stuck in the back of his body.
