White House Chief of Staff Susan Wiles advised US presidential administration officials, including US Vice President J.D. Vance, to take a break from social media. The New York Times reported this on May 30, citing sources.
According to the newspaper, at work meetings Vance often sits on social networks and uses them to combat his critics.
Unlike the head of the White House, Donald Trump, who often publishes posts on Truth Social but hardly interacts with users, Vance does this regularly, the NYT notes.
White House Communications Director Stephen Chung denied the media reports. He noted in X that this conversation between Viles and Vance “never happened.”
In an interview with NBC News published on May 26, Vance said he deleted App X from his phone while in office and has yet to install it back.
“It’s one of those things where not having that distraction, I think, has made me a lot more productive,” Vance said.
