He noted that Russian officials really need to present the illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russians with at least some “significant news.”

According to him, the Russians used the electric Lancet, although there are much better products for such a “show” to attract the attention of drone buyers, since “the hype around it has died down.”

He also explained that since the Lancet is a means of close frontal destruction at 30–80 km, the Russians waited for a favorable wind towards the capital, found the closest point to Kyiv and launched drones from there.
“The basic Lancet has zero chance of flying 200 km to Kyiv. Therefore, the warhead on the Lancet is removed, an additional battery is installed instead of the warhead. The batteries are replaced with expensive batteries of new technology,” notes the minister’s adviser.
At such distances, it is possible to control the Lancets via radio at an altitude of 1.5 km, but attacking to the ground is not, he explains. But the Russians did not need this.

The mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, reported that during the Russian attack on the morning of March 16, debris from a downed drone fell in the very center of the city. The media showed videos of debris scattered near the Independence Monument.
The military portal Defense Express wrote that the Russians for the first time used a new type of attack drones to strike Kyiv. It was highly likely that it was a Lancet-type drone with built-in artificial intelligence, the portal’s analysts believed.
The head of the communications department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuri Ignat, called the Russian attack “atypical” on air at the national telethon. He said that the drones launched by the Russian army had communication channels to control them.
