Cafe closed in Tehran for promoting 'Satanism'

Iranian police closed a cafe located in central Tehran, accused of promoting “satanic activities”, local media reported on Sunday, writes AFP.

Located on the famous Valiasr boulevard, the venue hosted events that played music that “encouraged abnormal behavior,” local Fars news agency reported.

A short video without sound released by the Tasnim agency shows a crowded hall where musicians play guitar while customers nod their heads to the music.

Iranian authorities regularly carry out raids and arrests targeting gatherings, particularly rock and heavy metal concerts, which they accuse of promoting “Satanism”.

In general, the Islamic Republic represses activities it considers contrary to Islamic values or marked by Western influences.
