In Zaporozhye, law enforcement officers detained a police major who is suspected of attempted rape of a 14-year-old teenage girl. The press service of the Zaporozhye regional prosecutor's office reported this on May 27.
The investigation claims that the senior detective of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Zaporozhye region could have committed this crime at approximately 2.00 on May 26.
A resident of a neighboring house heard the victim’s screams and called the police. They arrived at the scene of the call and immediately detained the defendant.
The major is charged with attempted rape of a minor (part 2 of article 15, part 3 of article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The head of the GUNP in the Zaporozhye region, Artem Kisko, reported on Facebook that the person involved was suspended from official duties. An official investigation has been ordered into the incident.
“I emphasize that no person, regardless of position or affiliation with a law enforcement agency, can be outside the law,” Kisko emphasized.
