KrasRZD counted the number of pets transported unaccompanied by their owners

27 May 16:58

Over four months, 176 pets were transported on the Krasnoyarsk Railway on long-distance trains without their owners.

Most often, dogs were sent on such trips – almost 70% of the total number of furry passengers. In second place are cats (28%). Decorative rabbits, birds, fish and rodents were also transported in the luggage compartments.

The service is most popular among residents of Krasnoyarsk and Abakan.

Let us remind you that healthy pets from the categories permitted for transportation on long-distance trains are allowed to travel. The transportation document is issued at specialized baggage counters or on the website of JSC Russian Railways. To do this, the sender will need to fill out an application: indicate the full name and contact information of the sender and recipient, attach accompanying documents (veterinary passport, birth certificate, pedigree, etc.).

Along with the animal, you must send a drinking bowl with water, a feeding trough and food, as well as an absorbent to maintain hygiene in the cage.

During the entire trip, pets are kept in the luggage compartment in a closed cage or container. They have access to food, water and a litter box. The conductors of passenger cars look after the condition of the animal during the trip.

You can receive a pet using an identification document (for legal entities you will additionally need a power of attorney). The recipient must pick it up from the carriage himself.

More information about the rules and conditions for transporting pets unaccompanied by their owners can be found on the Russian Railways website in the “Services and Services” section – “Transportation of baggage, parcels, correspondence, animals and hand luggage”.
