FSB officers came to the office of ex-governor of the Rostov region Vasily Golubev. This afternoon he announced that he was resigning of his own free will.

“The purge has begun. We arrived from Moscow. FSB officers are planning a thorough check of the authorities in the region. Criminal cases will be initiated. Among those suspected of fraud with large sums of money are several deputies of city manager Alexei Logvinenko. After the searches, so far everything has ended with a conversation in the office. So far, warnings have been issued.”
Golubev's spokeswoman, meanwhile, said that there were no searches.
Vasily Yuryevich headed the Rostov region for more than 14 years.
