Scientists from the Siberian Federal University compiled a catalog and studied Siberian frying in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Khakassia. This was reported by the university press service.
Researchers from the Institute of Fundamental Biology and Biotechnology of Siberian Federal University collected about 200 specimens of plants of the genus Trollius in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Khakassia. Experts studied their leaves, flowers, root systems and other characteristics. The main goal of the work is to clarify how many types of roasters are found in this area and how vulnerable each of them is. This is important for the development of plant protection measures, some of which are already included in the Red Books of individual regions and countries.
Ilya Putilin, assistant at the Department of Aquatic and Terrestrial Ecosystems and research engineer at the Laboratory of Forest Genomics at Siberian Federal University, noted that scientists have actually begun revising the species of this flower.
“This will determine, among other things, protective measures in relation to these plants, which many city residents willingly collect in bouquets and dig up for replanting in their garden plots,” he explained.
The next step will be genetic analysis. It will help you understand what features are responsible for the differences between species: the size of the leaves and parts of the flower, the structure of the roots and other characteristics. Scientists hope that the new study will help more accurately determine the status of these plants and preserve rare species.
Fireweeds (also called swimworts or “wisps”) are perennial plants with bright yellow or orange flowers. They prefer damp, shady places and are known in folk medicine.
