It is recommended for an adult to consume no more than 5 grams of salt per day. Ekaterina Kim, associate professor of the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology of the Far Eastern Federal University, specialist in healthy nutrition, told RIA Novosti.
According to the expert, salt and sugar remain one of the main products, the excess of which can be harmful to health.
“Salt and sugar are probably the two biggest problems that seriously aggravate a person’s condition. No more than five grams of salt per day. But just like sugar, it is found in almost all products,” noted Ekaterina Kim.
The specialist explained that salt is found not only in homemade dishes, but also in many prepared foods. Therefore, a person can exceed the norm, even if he adds almost no salt to his food. To reduce salt consumption, the expert advises salting dishes not during cooking, but after cooking. So, according to experts, a person usually eats less salt.
If iodized salt is used, it is also better to add it to the finished dish. During cooking, iodine may evaporate.
