In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Lesozhranitel video monitoring network has been expanded. Now 181 cameras monitor the situation in the forests around the clock.

Another 11 devices with equipment and software were purchased at the expense of the regional budget. Governor Mikhail Kotyukov previously instructed to strengthen control over the fire situation and quickly identify fires. Each camera takes a 360-degree view up to eight times per hour. The system automatically records smoke and fire on the digital platform. This helps monitor forests near populated areas.

After detecting a smoke point, the dispatcher processes the information and transmits it to the nearest forest fire department. Using this data, experts calculate how many people and equipment need to be sent to extinguish the fire.

“Since the beginning of the year, the video monitoring system has recorded 233 smoke points, of which information about 23 forest fires, as well as 28 fires on lands of other categories, was confirmed. Thanks to the prompt detection of outbreaks, it is possible to quickly deal with the fire and reduce the area covered by the fire,” said Vitaly Prostakishin, director of the regional Forest Fire Center.

Drones are also monitoring the forests. This season, the UAV fleet of the regional Forest Fire Center has increased to 81 units.
