The end of coal in Bełchatów will mean layoffs. The company has a plan

Commenting on the issue of possible layoffs, the company's spokeswoman reminds that work will be carried out in these areas even after the end of mining.
— It's worth remembering that after the end of energy production, some of the employees will remain in the mine and power plant – they will be engaged in, among other things, land reclamation, including the creation of an artificial lake, the potential construction of a pumped-storage power plant, and the management and liquidation of post-mining assets, he explains.
In an interview with WNP, Joanna Blewąska-Kołodziejczak also reminds that Bełchatów is one of the possible locations of the planned second nuclear power plant in Poland. — At the same time, new directions of activity in Bełchatów are analyzed and implemented. The PGE Group's strategy assumes investments, including: in renewable energy, energy storage and a combined heat and power plant. It is worth pointing out that in the Polish Nuclear Energy Program, Bełchatów is also one of the two preferred locations for the second large-scale nuclear power plant in Poland, he notes.
