In Krasnoyarsk, work has begun to improve the Zapadny square near the 50th Anniversary of Victory Square. The space will be renovated in 2026.

The contractor is currently dismantling the old paving stones. The next stage will be milling the asphalt concrete pavement. After the landscaping, the park will have a quiet area with swings under canopies and benches. The event area will also be expanded, and military equipment will be moved to a separate area. Modern lighting and video surveillance will be installed in the public space.

Evgeny Burmistrov, head of the Kirovsky district administration, noted that the square is an important place for residents.

“Western Square is the heart of our district, a place of memory and meetings. The improvement will allow us to preserve its memorial function and at the same time make the space more comfortable and modern for all residents, young and old,” he said.

The design project was developed with maximum preservation of existing trees. Only trees that are dead, drying out, infected with dangerous diseases, or pose a threat to vacationers are planned to be removed. Their condition will be assessed by specialists. Instead of the removed trees, rowan trees, apple trees, birch trees, lilacs, bird cherry trees and various types of shrubs will be planted in the park.

More than 15 thousand Krasnoyarsk residents voted for the improvement of Zapadny Square last year. This year, two objects were put up for voting from the Kirovsky district: the Moskovsky Trakt square and a public space in the village of Suvorovsky. You can vote until June 12. The square will be improved under the “Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment” program of the national project “Infrastructure for Life”.
