Dangerous consequences of the attack on oil storage facilities in Tehran. Authorities warn

A high-ranking official of Tehran's emergency services, Said Mehrsorush, was quoted by the Iranian website IranWire and warned against acid rain that fell on the city on Monday. However, in his appeal to the people of Tehran, Mehrsorush emphasized that the most serious threat today is the toxic gases present in the air.

What do the authorities recommend to the residents of Tehran?
What masks should people wear when going outside?
What substances increased in the air after the attacks?
The destruction caused by Israeli-American attacks on oil storage facilities resulted in high levels of sulfur and nitrogen compounds and polyaromatic hydrocarbons in the air. These substances may have serious consequences for the environment and health, warned Anna Hansell from the University of Leicester in the UK, quoted on Monday by the “New Scientist” magazine.
She said “if raindrops get on the skin, they will carry potentially carcinogenic compounds that can be washed off, but if they get in the nose and mouth, they can linger longer, and very fine smoke particles in the air can penetrate deep into the lungs and potentially enter the bloodstream.”
Local authorities have issued recommendations to residents
In connection with Tehran's authorities appealed to residents not to leave their homes unnecessarily and to stay indoors whenever possible. They also recommended that people who must go outside wear masks with a filter, at least N95 or FFP2; as they emphasized, ordinary medical masks do not provide sufficient protection because toxic fumes easily penetrate them.
On the night from Saturday to Sunday, American-Israeli missiles hit Iranian oil facilities, causing fires in four oil storage facilities. Oil transmission installations in Tehran and the nearby Alborz province were also destroyed.
