
On the night of May 24, the army of the aggressor country, Russia, carried out a massive shelling of Kyiv using missiles and drones. Damage was recorded in all areas of the city. This was announced by the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko.
As of this morning, there is information about one death in the Shevchenko district. Another 21 people were injured, including a 15-year-old boy. According to Klitschko, three of the wounded are in serious condition.
According to the State Emergency Service, a fire broke out at a school in the Shevchenko district due to an attack. Hit in the business center building and a fire in the market area were recorded.
One of the five-story buildings was destroyed within the entrance from the first to the fifth floor. Also, in particular, the building of the museum of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kyiv region was destroyed.
In the Darnytskyi district, shelling caused a fire on the roof of a two-story dormitory with an approximate area of 150 m².
In the Dnieper region, a fire broke out in a private residential building and on the territory of a garage cooperative.
In the Desnyansky district, a hit was recorded in a shopping center and a supermarket building. A fire broke out in five garages on the territory of a garage cooperative.
In the Svyatoshinsky district, a hit was reported in a nine-story residential building.
In the Solomensky district, a fire broke out in a 24-story residential building. There are also reports of damage to warehouses in the industrial zone.
In the Obolonsky district, according to preliminary data, two residential buildings caught fire. There was also a fire in a construction hypermarket.
In the Pechersky district, a fire occurred in a 20-story new building.
The State Emergency Service showed footage of saving people and eliminating the consequences of the Russian attack on Kyiv.
As a result of the night attack, the main office of Ukrposhti on Independence Square was also damaged, said general director Igor Smelyansky.
In the capital's Podol, an architectural monument – the National Chernobyl Museum – was destroyed, said Yaroslav Emelianenko, chairman of the Association of Chernobyl Operators.
Monitoring channels report that this was one of the largest attacks on the city during the entire war. According to them, the main component of the attack were cruise missiles of the Kh-101/Caliber/Iskander-K type. Also, in a fairly short time, an “anomalous number” of ballistic and aeroballistic missiles were used.
At the same time, the role of attack and simulation drones in this strike was smaller, “given the low efficiency,” the monitors noted.
