“Concern and sympathy are not enough.” Sibiga appealed to Ukraine's partners amid the threat of an Oreshnik strike

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga called on Kyiv's international partners to move from statements of solidarity to concrete actions to contain the aggressor country Russia, in particular in massive shelling. The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this on May 23 on Telegram.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky warned that Russian troops could prepare a combined attack, in particular with the use of Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missiles. He called on Ukrainians to “consciously respond” to alarms and take shelter starting on the evening of May 23.

The head of state explained that Ukrainian intelligence was informed about the likely attack by American and European partners.

According to Sibiga, Ukraine is grateful to its allies for warning about possible massive attacks, but the main signals should be addressed not to Kyiv or Western capitals, but to Moscow.

“Now is the time for our partners to turn solidarity with Ukraine into action. […] You have leverage. Take advantage of them now. Warn Moscow of the price it will have to pay. Both publicly and through closed channels,” the minister noted.

He stressed that “concern and sympathy are not enough.”

“We need concrete actions that will already increase the cost of war for the aggressor. This will be the best way to express solidarity with the Ukrainian people,” added the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
