A donor with 28 years of experience from Kansk lost her status due to a positive test for hepatitis

A resident of Kansk filed a lawsuit to restore her status as a blood donor. She was added to the donor bank because she tested positive for hepatitis B.

The woman has been donating blood since 2002 and has made 28 donations during this time. In December 2024, the Blood Center staff informed her that further cooperation was impossible due to a positive reaction to the hepatitis B virus marker in the last study. On the same day, the donor went to the AIDS laboratory in Kansk, where she donated blood three times – all results were negative. Despite this, Krasnoyarsk Regional Blood Center No. 1 sent the woman an official notice of permanent medical disqualification from donation.

The court concluded that the challenge was made on legal grounds. Laboratory test results from other medical institutions cannot be accepted for consideration. Having a single positive test result for markers of viral hepatitis is an absolute contraindication for admission to donation. The decision has not yet entered into legal force.
