Dragana Cvijic (36 years old), the pivot of the Ferencvaros team, announced that she is ending her handball career.

Dragana Cvijic retires from handball

“Dear handball, the time has come to close a wonderful and special chapter in my life. After many years spent on the court, I have decided to end my career as a handball player.

It is difficult to find the right words for all that handball has given me, lifelong friends, priceless experiences, memorable victories, but also defeats from which I have learned enormously. Every practice, every match, every shirt I wore left a mark on my heart.

I want to thank from the bottom of my heart every club I played for, every coach who believed in me, taught me and motivated me to become better, as well as all the teammates with whom I shared the field, the victories, the tears, the laughs and the unforgettable moments.

Thank you for being a part of my journey and being my second family. A huge thank you goes to my fans, friends and family, who have stood by me through every success and through every difficult moment. Your support means more than words can express.

Handball was not just a sport for me, it was my life, my passion and a part of me that will forever remain in my heart. Although I say goodbye to the field, the memories, emotions and love for this sport will last forever. Thank you for everything. We will see each other again in my new position,” reads the message she posted on Instagram.
