Marian Aioani Previews Rapid’s Clash with CFR Cluj Amidst Transfer Rumors

Marian Aioani, a 26-year-old goalkeeper for Rapid, has previewed the upcoming derby against CFR Cluj set for August 2nd at 21:30. He cautioned that the financial problems surrounding the Cluj team, often discussed over the past few years, should not be underestimated, as they have consistently qualified for European competitions despite these challenges.
Aioani revealed that he had received multiple transfer offers but assured Coach Daniel Pancu of his intention to stay with Rapid. “The atmosphere is very good; we have prepared well this week, and we expect a very difficult match against a team that plays in Europe, which managed to qualify last night. It is important for us to continue winning at home. Our focus should be on what we will do on the pitch,” Aioani stated at the press conference.
He also reflected on the reasons behind the previous draw against Botoșani, emphasizing the need for a better attitude and increased aggression in their play. “In the last match, we had many good moments and chances to score in the first half. We could have made it easier for ourselves. The mistake was ours, leading to a penalty and a goal against us,” Aioani explained.
“CFR claims to have had problems for 4-5 years yet they always play in Europe. We must not lower our guard based on what they say. We need to secure a victory against them; it has been a long time since we last won, and we need to make up for that. What happened last season is behind us. I am only thinking about the future. My relationship with the supporters is strong. I had 2-3 offers, but I promised Mister that I would not leave,” Aioani concluded.
