Rostelecom employees conducted a cyber lesson at a school in the village of Kopievo in Khakassia. The event was organized on the initiative of the State Committee for Digital Development and Communications of the republic as part of the third season of the all-Russian educational project “Digital Educational Education”.

About 100 people – students in grades 6-8 and teachers – learned how to recognize telephone scammers, correctly respond to alarm calls, protect their smartphone from tricks and not succumb to manipulation.

The main characters of the cyber lesson were the catfish Rostik and the salmon Sonya from the underwater city of Rifburg. Using their example, volunteers talked about the basic rules for using a smartphone safely.

“The company developed quizzes, a presentation and a video especially for this project. The materials have been approved by the Institute for the Study of Childhood, Family and Education and are recommended for viewing by children together with adults,” shared Andrey Kuznetsov, head of the Technical Infrastructure Block of the Krasnoyarsk branch of Rostelecom, cyber lesson teacher.

Rostelecom's subsidiary T2 blocks more than 2.5 million unwanted calls every day. Teenagers are one of the most vulnerable categories in telephone scam schemes.

Deputy Director of the Krasnoyarsk branch of Rostelecom Denis Zinoviev said that adults should instill in young people a culture of online behavior:

“The summer holidays are coming, schoolchildren will have a lot of free time and, of course, they will spend some of it on the Internet. It is important that they are able to recognize lies and critically evaluate unexpected requests. Adults should instill in young people a culture of online behavior.”

Deputy Head of the Department for the Development of Infrastructure Projects and Communications of the State Committee for Digital Development of the Republic of Khakassia, Alexander Parfenyuk, in turn, added that cyber lessons are very popular among children and teenagers.

“If in big cities digital literacy lessons are held relatively often, then in remote municipalities of the republic there is a shortage of them. That’s why we chose the Kopyevsk school and invited Rostelecom. I am sure that such events should be held regularly. The activity of students during cyber lessons confirms that the topic is very relevant.”

For the younger generation, not only cyber lessons are held, but also tournaments on the board game “Safe Internet”. On the platform “Lyceum” developmental available free of charge computer literacy course. Classes are held for older people “The ABCs of the Internet”.
