Improvement of Kirov Street in the historical center of Krasnoyarsk is progressing according to schedule

First Deputy Head of Krasnoyarsk Alexander Matsak, deputies of the City Council, representatives of city services and contractors held an off-site meeting dedicated to the progress of the renovation of cross streets in the historical part in preparation for the 400th anniversary of the city.

The mayor's office said that the focus was on Kirova Street, one of three cross streets that will be repaired this year. It is brought to modern standards of improvement and made more convenient, first of all, for pedestrians. Now underground channels are being laid on the street to hide all the wires, old coverings are being dismantled and new paving stones are being laid.

Residents complained about the lack of walkability. Workers dismantled the sidewalks on both sides of the street at once; citizens have to move along the roadway. The customer service made comments to the contractor on this matter. Their elimination is monitored on a daily basis. Currently, signs are posted on the site and the necessary flooring has been laid.

“Work on the transverse streets of the historical center is under the constant control of the head of Krasnoyarsk, Sergei Vereshchagin. The main task he sets is strict adherence to the schedule. On Kirov Street there were comments regarding the production culture, but they have now been eliminated. In general, we evaluate the progress of work satisfactorily,” said First Deputy Head of Krasnoyarsk Alexander Matsak.

Specialists pay special attention to landscaping. Emergency plants were removed. In return, their designers provided new green spaces. Last year, positive experience was gained: seedlings planted on cross streets successfully survived the first winter.

“We took into account any place that can be used for landscaping in the project for planting trees. We want to create a beautiful street profile. All solutions were adjusted to the trees already existing on the streets, and we tried to preserve them as much as possible. The quality of planting material is important. We carry out designer’s supervision and see that the trees planted last season on the cross streets have taken root very well,” says the author of the improvement project, chief architect of Project Development LLC Anastasia Sharypova.

It should be noted that the improvement of Kirov Street is being carried out simultaneously by several contractors. Separate contracts were concluded for the improvement of the pedestrian part, replacement of lighting, installation of street furniture, landscaping and road work. This is done to optimize the work schedule.
