The man would have traveled to Serbia in recent weeks, claim sources from the medical unit. On his return from the neighboring country, in the last month, he had a fever, and since it did not decrease, the man presented himself to the hospital two days ago. He is currently admitted to the Infectious Diseases Department of the County Hospital in Resita, News writes.

The doctors at the hospital took samples and sent them to the Institute “Cantacousino” from Bucharest, to confirm the diagnosis, this after the preliminary tests indicated the presence of the hantavirus.

A week ago, another case of hantavirus was reported in the west of the country, in a man who was hospitalized for two years at the Psychiatric Hospital in Ştei, Bihor county. He presented himself with cough, fever and diarrhea at the Arad County Hospital, where he was diagnosed with hantavirus. Later, the “Cantacuzino” Institute in the capital confirmed the presence of the virus in this case.

In Romania, in the period 2023-2026, 15 cases of hantavirus infection were registered.
