The GoF format was initiated a year ago by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, when Olaf Scholz was chancellor.
During this time, several meetings in this format were organized, including: in January in Warsaw. At the last meeting held in London in September, the GoF countries condemned the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones on September 10.

The GoF format was created to improve coordination on defense and security matters between its participants and to discuss cooperation in the field of arms and interoperability.
