Liberal Mihai Barbu, investigated by the DNA in the Vaslui scandal, resigned from the leadership of the Railway Reform Authority

Mihai Barbu resigned from the position of president of the Railway Reform Authority (ARF), after the National Anticorruption Directorate announced that he is being investigated under judicial control for using influence to obtain undue benefits.

“The Railway Reform Authority (ARF) informs that, yesterday, November 10, 2025, Mr. Mihai Barbu resigned from the position of president of the authority, after the National Anticorruption Directorate announced that he is being investigated under judicial control for the use of influence in order to obtain undue benefits for himself or for another”it is shown in a post on the institution's Facebook page, writes Agerpres.
Mihai Barbu, interim president of PNL Vaslui and director of the Railway Reform Authority, was placed under judicial control for 60 days, following the DNA Iasi hearings in the case in which the businessman Fanel Bogos is under preventive arrest for inciting blackmail and buying influence.
Barbu is accused of committing the crime of using influence or authority in order to obtain for himself or another person money, goods or other undue benefits, after in order to facilitate the obtaining for the defendant Fanel Bogos of the sum of approximately 3,000,000 euros from DSVSA Vaslui, as a result of a compensation file submitted by his company, starting from February 2025 until now, he would have exercised his influence and political authority to mediate a meeting of the defendant with high state officials, the director of ANSVSA and various politicians and, at the same time, he would have exerted pressure on the director of ANSVSA.
The National Liberal Party announced that Mihai Barbu is suspended from all positions held in the party during the application of the judicial control. The Deputy of Iaşi Alexandru Muraru will coordinate the activity of the Territorial Branch of PNL Vaslui.
At the same time, the PSD president, Sorin Grindeanu, said on Monday that he asked the Minister of Transport, Ciprian Şerban, to send to the Prime Minister's Office a request for the dismissal of the director of the Railway Reform Authority, Mihai Barbu.
He mentioned that the decision to dismiss Barbu “it's with the prime minister”.
