For the second year in a row, Nazarovo becomes the center of one of the most striking career guidance events in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The large-scale festival “ProfFest”, organized by the Melnichenko Foundation together with the companies SUEK-Krasnoyarsk and SGK, brought together about three thousand participants – schoolchildren, students, parents, teachers and residents of the Nazarovsky District – on the main square of the city.
General Director of the Melnichenko Foundation Tatyana Zhuravleva notes: “Today, the development of territories is directly related to opportunities for personal growth and professional fulfillment. However, it is important that career guidance is not just a story about professions, but becomes a lively dialogue between young people, families, educational organizations and employers. Schoolchildren and students need not only to hear about modern professions, but also to try themselves in them in order to understand real career prospects in their home cities. ProfFest demonstrated how in demand such an open and practical format is.”
For one day, the square in front of the city recreation center “Ugolshchik” turned into a real space of the future, where professions were not just shown, but lived. Here you could assemble an electrical circuit, try yourself as a surveyor, figure out how coal turns into heat and light, work with measuring instruments, see production processes from the inside and literally touch modern industry. The concept of the festival was built around a “Professional Path Map” that each participant completed.
The festival featured educational and production sites. Leading educational institutions in the region presented their programs: Nazarovsky Energy Construction College, Sharypovsky Multidisciplinary College, Aerospace College of Siberian State University named after. M. F. Reshetnyova, Polytechnic Institute of Siberian Federal University, Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science of Siberian Federal University and Siberian State University named after. M. F. Reshetnyova.
The production area was of particular interest to the guests. At the Nazarovskaya GRES site, participants assembled electrical circuits, became familiar with the professions of an electrician and heating engineer, and learned how heat and electricity come to residents’ homes. At the location of the Nazarovsky open-pit mine, schoolchildren searched for a “coal seam” using professional instruments, studied rock samples and tried to put mining equipment into operation.
The head of the Nazarovo district, Alexander Geinrikh, is confident that such events help determine the choice of a future profession and get acquainted with educational institutions of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. He also emphasized: “Last year ProfFest received a great response from residents, so we are glad that the festival is being held in Nazarovo again. Thanks to our partners, city-forming enterprises and the Melnichenko Foundation. It is important for the city that young people see prospects here, in their hometown, and understand that they can build a successful professional future at our enterprises.”
In addition to career guidance areas, guests enjoyed interactive zones, science shows, photo locations, exhibitions of special equipment and play spaces for children. The most active participants who completed all the stations of the festival took part in a prize draw.
This year, ProfFest has acquired special significance for Nazarovo. In 2026, the city and the Nazarovskaya GRES will celebrate their 65th anniversary, and the Nazarovsky open-pit mine will celebrate its 75th anniversary. That is why one of the key themes of the festival was introducing young people to fuel and energy sector professions.
