Forestry specialists from Krasnoyarsk Tatyshev Park have begun annual work to restore the apple orchard.
During May, 200 pear seedlings of the varieties Cathedral, Lada, Raduzhnaya and others will appear there, as well as 800 apple trees: Antey, Bogatyr, Altai Rumyanoye, Yunga, Zavetnoye, Phoenix Altai and others. To date, 400 green spaces have already been planted.
After planting, trees need regular watering: in the first days, one seedling requires about 50 liters of water, especially in warm weather. The correct regime is extremely important, since young trees are especially sensitive to both a lack of moisture and its excess.
The mayor’s office noted that the apple orchard is replenished with new trees every year: “Experts have calculated the optimal rate – 1,000 seedlings per year, and this figure has remained unchanged for the third season. Today, the garden area has an impressive collection of more than 12,000 apple trees. What makes the collection particularly valuable is that all varieties are distinguished by high winter hardiness and excellent ability to recover from adverse weather conditions.”

Let us remember that the apple orchard in Tatyshev Park was founded in 2004 on the initiative of the then mayor of Krasnoyarsk Pyotr Pimashkov, who planned to create the best orchard “if not in Russia, then from the Urals to the Far East.” The garden has an unusual feature: part of the apple trees are planted so that they form the inscription “PETER”. It cannot be seen from the ground, but from the air it is clearly visible.
Guests of the park are reminded that they must treat the natural attraction with care: during photo sessions and during the harvest period, you should not shake the trees, climb on them or bend branches. You can enjoy the fruits in August, when they are fully ripe.
