Chinese player Renlong Pang (25) has received an incredible suspension from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). He will no longer be active in the circuit for the next 12 years, for rigging or attempting to rig more than 20 matches, in 2024.
He was also ordered to pay a fine of $110,000, $70,000 of which was suspended. Renlong Pang it had its best ranking in 2024, the 1,316th place.
Suspended 12 years from tennis for admitting to match-fixing!
Renlong Pang admitted his mistake: he rigged five matches and contacted other professional players 17 times to propose similar issues. In all, at least six of his matches were rigged.
The Chinese will not be eligible to play in the ATP and ITF tournaments until 2036, when he will be 37 years old. The suspension remains valid even if he would like to train or participate in any match under the tutelage of these organizations.
Renlong Pang's last official match was on November 1, 2024. He lost to Aliaksandr Liaonenka 3-6, 3-6 after 1 hour and 6 minutes of play.
Last week, tennis' anti-corruption agency suspended France's Quentin Folliot for 20 years, the sixth player involved in the vast match-fixing investigation.
