The Operational Command of the Armed Forces types announced on Sunday that the actions taken on Saturday did not confirm the violation of Polish airspace. All decisions were aimed at ensuring maximum safety for citizens – it was emphasized in the announcement.

The operational command of the Armed Forces in the announcement issued on Sunday referred to the actions of Saturday afternoon, when, due to the threat of impacts of unmanned aerial vehicles in the regions of Ukraine bordering the Republic of Poland, the operation of military aviation in Polish airspace began.

“In relation to the activities of the army of September 13, 2025 related to the threat of violation of our airspace, we would like to inform you that actions were taken in all available ways to confirm the indications of radiolocation systems regarding the possible violation of Polish aircraft. They have not confirmed the indications of our systems, and thus violating the Polish airspace” – provided in information published on the website X.

The army explained that Systems records may have resulted from the prevailing weather conditions, but required reaction due to the presence of objects in the closeness of our border. “A similar situation took place yesterday in Romania, where the indications of radar systems were also noted and the air defense system was activated,” it was emphasized in the press release.

The operational command of the Armed Forces types indicated that the decisions were aimed at confirming the data obtained from radar systems, ensuring maximum security for citizens and preventing the potential effects of possible violation of space by an unidentified air object.

“The RSZ Operational Command remains in constant readiness for reaction, and our actions are focused on ensuring security for citizens,” it was noted.

Poland has picked up fighters

On Saturday, after 16.30, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces (Cods) informed on portal X that due to the threat of strokes of unmanned aerial vehicles in the regions of Ukraine bordering the Republic of Poland, the operation of military aviation in our aircraft began. “In order to ensure the safety of our airspace, the RSZ operational commander launched all the necessary procedures,” the cod pointed out. It has been added that Polish and allied aircraft operate in the Polish space, and terrestrial air defense and radar recognition systems have achieved the state of the highest readiness.

“In connection with the threat of Russian drones operating over Ukraine near the border with Poland, in our space the preventive operation of aviation – Polish and allied began. Tenior air defense systems achieved the state of the highest readiness,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote at X.

Romania intercepted the drone

Also on Saturday afternoon, the media in Romania reported that the air force of this country intercepted the drone, which flew into the Romanian aircraft. Earlier, two F-16 fighters were picked up from the base in Fetesti to monitor the situation in the air along the border with Ukraine. On Saturday, the Romanian authorities also sent an alert to the inhabitants of the Tulcz District at the border with Ukraine, warning against the possible fall of flying facilities.

In recent months, Polish combat aircraft regularly have been picked up to flight due to repeated Russian mass raids on Ukraine. The task of pilots in this type of missions is to patrol Polish airspace and make sure that drones do not pose a threat to Poland.

In the night attack of the Russian Federation on Ukraine from 9 to 10 September, the Polish airspace was repeatedly violated by drones. Those that pose a direct threat were shot down by Polish and allied aviation – this is the first time in the modern history of Poland, when the air forces used armaments in the airspace of the country. According to the information provided by the Chancellery of the President, the Polish border crossed 21 drones. (PAP)
