The Sovetsky District Court of Krasnoyarsk found a local resident guilty of committing theft from a bank account.
It was established that the man, while at work, noticed his colleague’s mobile phone lying on the ground. By picking it up, the attacker gained access to the bank’s mobile application by entering the password from the SMS. Then he transferred money in the amount of 15,000 rubles.
The man’s actions were qualified under paragraph “g” of Part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft committed with causing significant damage to a citizen). For this, the court sentenced him to 2 years in prison, and also added the unserved part of an additional sentence for a previously committed crime in the form of deprivation of a driver’s license for 11 months 24 days. Based on Art. 73 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the punishment in the form of imprisonment was recognized as suspended with a probationary period of 2 years, the joint press service of the regional courts said.
