
Forget about the classic recipe – these potato pancakes with ham and cheese turn your idea of a familiar dish! A crispy crust, melting cheese and piquant ham turns simple pancakes into a real culinary masterpiece.
Ingredients:
Potatoes – 500 g (4-5 medium tubers)
Onions – 1 pc. (small)
Egg – 1 pc.
Flour – 2 tbsp. l. (or starch – 1 tbsp.
Salt – 1 tsp. (to taste)
Black pepper – ½ tsp.
Ham – 150 g (can be replaced with sausage or bacon)
Cheese – 100 g (hard, such as Dutch or Chedder)
Vegetable oil – for frying
Sour cream or sauce – for serving
Preparation:
Clean potatoes and onions.
Grate them on a fine grater (or grind in a blender).
Squeeze excess juice through gauze or sieve (this will make pancakes crispy).
Add egg, flour, salt and pepper to a bowl with potato-ray mass.
Mix well.
Cut the ham and cheese with small cubes.
Put the potato mass on a preheated pan with butter.
Put a little ham and cheese on top.
Cover another spoon of potato mixture, slightly press with a spatula.
Fry over medium heat for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden crust.
Put the finished pancakes on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
Serve hot with sour cream, garlic sauce or herbs.
