Ovidiu Ioanițoaia, director of Gazeta Sporturilor, analyzed the appointment of Marius Baciu (51) on the bench of the FCSB.
In search of a coach now that Lucian Filip's interim is coming to an end, Gigi Becali clapped hands with Marius Baciu, former defender and captain of Stella in the late 90s and early 2000s.
Baciu had several coaching experiences, the most notable at Concordia Chiajna and Daco-Getica Bucharest, which he trained in the first league, but he has been out of the circuit for several years, lately occupying the position of analyst at PrimaSport television.
This morning, live on the GSP Live show, Ovidiu Ioanițoaia commented on the choice of Gigi Becali.
Ovidiu Ioanițoaia, about the installation of Marius Baciu at FCSB: “He has no CV, what did he train?”
“Baciu… Surprising move, without a doubt, out of the blue. Nobody expected Baciu, who has been out of the circuit for 4-5 years. He was a television commentator, and the last time he coached in 2020 in Oman, Saudi Arabia. He doesn't have a CV of a sizeable coach. What did he coach? Daco-Getica and he was also here, near me, in Chiajna.
Becali's decisions are often surprising, let's see how MM Stoica will come to terms with this decision, given the fact that he definitely wanted a foreign coach.
Baciu was a great player; not a reputable international, but won 3 championships and two Cups with Steaua. Maybe it will work, but for now it's just a promise. There can be no certainty, because he did not produce anything as a coach”, said the experienced journalist in the first phase.
Asked if he sees Becali respecting what he promised to Baciuthat they don't hire him as a “puppet trainer”, the GSP director replied:
“Who imagines that Becali will give up his toy, his doll, and let the coach make all the decisions? When you come to FCSB and the boss is Becali, you kind of know what job you're getting into.
Becali behaved the same way with everyone: in the first phase he promised, committed, promised, swore, and after two weeks he started breaking his promises, as he did with Rădoi's son, whom he respected the most and who deserved to be respected. In the end, dust was chosen and that's why.
It is difficult to work with Becali, although he has learned football before, he is no longer the one he was a few years ago, who really didn't know anything. Now he has notions, orients himself, hears and remembers what he needs, but he is not a coach. Coaching is a job, being the financier of a team is something else entirely.
For Baciu it is a challenge, no doubt. Becali said that he would appoint a coach for two possible play-off matches, but now I understand that Baciu has signed for one year”.

“4-5 more stages and Metaloglobus would have escaped relegation”
“More sad is the fact that after the victory achieved by UTA in Slobozia, FCSB lost the first place in the play-out.
The defending champion didn't even manage to win the play-out. It is to Adi Mihalcea's credit that he managed with UTA what the champion was not able to do, until the other day, en-titre”, added Ioanițoaia, who also commented on the outcome from the bottom of the ranking:
It was confirmed what I kept saying, that the Lighthouse is in free fall, in the heat, and that Metaloglobus is playing better and better. If there were 4-5 more stages, I think Metaloglobus would have saved itself from relegation. Farul did not manage, at home, to draw at least a draw against a team that has long since dropped out of the Superliga. And with Teja and Florin Bratu, Metaloglobus played better than many teams that remain in the first league, but that is history.
And Petrolul, which Oțelul ridiculed, crushing it at home with 5-1, escaped the barrier. To lose at home 1-5 and save yourself by playing the results it seems like the realm of fantasybut Petrolul was the only one there without the benefit of rounding and thus managed to escape.
Hermannstadt has a difficult task at the dam, Voluntari is an uncomfortable opponent. On the other hand, judging by the cold, Farul should have no problem with Chindia, who have won only one match in the League 2 play-offs. But football is football, anything can happen.
