Tens of thousands of supporters celebrated, on Monday, in Craiova, the winning of the title of champion by the team from Bănie after a break of 35 years.

The University of Craiova became the mathematical champion after the categorical victory obtained on Sunday evening, May 17, in front of the University of Cluj, score 5-0, a success that came just a few days after winning the Romanian Cup and brought the event to Banie, writes Golazo.ro.

On Monday, over 15,000 people were present in Mihai Viteazul Square in the center of Craiova.

The players took to the stage one by one and the crowd chanted their names. The fans also sang the old anthem of Science Craiova, as shown by the images published on social networks.

The club previously announced that the team will leave at 19:00 in a parade with an open coach, following a route that will cross several important areas of the city, before the celebration continues, from 19:30, in “Mihai Viteazul” Square.

“Thank you to these guys, the players and their families. It's not easy, because they spend a lot of time in training camp. We made it because of you, the fans. Without you, it would have been impossible.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will never forget you. The capital, today, is not Bucharest. The capital is Craiova,” said coach Filipe Coelho, in an emotional speech held in front of the fans in Mihai Viteazul Square.
