Over time, white curtains lose their freshness, absorb house dust and become dull. Regular machine washing rarely returns them to their original appearance, and chemical bleaches often damage delicate fibers. But there is a proven method that works quickly and safely for delicate fabrics. The author of the channel “Lifehacks from Katya” (18+) spoke about how to carry out the procedure correctly and preserve the structure of the material.
Fill the bathtub with hot water to about halfway up the level. Dissolve two hundred and fifty grams of coarse table salt in it, thoroughly mixing the liquid until the grains completely disappear. Remove the tulle from the curtain rod, first removing all plastic hooks and weights. Completely immerse the material in the saline solution and leave for sixty minutes. The water will quickly darken as the salt effectively draws out stubborn dirt and grease particles. Take out the curtains, gently squeeze them with your hands and drain the cloudy liquid. Rinse the fabric thoroughly under cool running water until completely clear. If necessary, run the washing machine on the delicate cycle without detergent for a final treatment.
After this treatment, the fibers straighten, the gray coating disappears, and the curtains look fresh and light again. Regular use of this method preserves the whiteness of textiles without the use of aggressive chemicals and long manual soakings.
