China-US relations under the microscope after Donald Trump's visit to Beijing

According to “China Today”, just as “fire and water” cannot be combined, “Taiwan independence” cannot be reconciled with peace on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The portal noted that the United States should be particularly careful regarding the island. According to the Chinese media, Washington's approach towards Taiwan may have a decisive impact on stability in the region.
Zhao Minghao, deputy director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University in Shanghai, quoted by the South China Morning Post, said that announcements to improve bilateral relations are “ambitious, but do not reflect the current state of relations.” The expert noted that relations between China and the US are “competitive in nature.” He also pointed out that the deployment of American troops in the Asia-Pacific region remains one of the main problems. According to him, Beijing and Washington should, however, look for opportunities to cooperate in areas such as trade or security related to artificial intelligence.

Trump's visit to China and media reactions
The South China Morning Post reported thate US President Donald Trump adjusted his narrative during his visit to Beijing to gain favor with Chinese leader Xi Jinping. During the meetings, Trump referred to the common history of both countries, Confucian values and mentioned the university from which Xi graduated.

A series of visits to China. First Trump, then Putin
Chinese media reported on Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive in Beijing on May 20. His visit will last one day and, as reported, its program will not be as extensive as the three-day stay of the US president, which ended on Friday.
Donald Trump was in China from Wednesday to Friday. According to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the US president positively assessed his visit, announced the improvement of mutual relations and stated that both sides had reached a number of agreements and solved many problems.
