On the morning of May 16 in Turkey, an unknown drone exploded in the city of Samsun in the Ilkadim region. This was reported by the IHA agency.

As a result of the explosion, at least three residential buildings were damaged and windows were broken in the buildings.

According to local sources, local residents were awakened by a loud sound and initially assumed that there was a natural gas explosion. Later they saw a column of smoke and this caused panic. According to preliminary information, no one was injured.

Police, paramedics and fire services quickly arrived at the scene. Access to the area was limited; specialists collected the wreckage of the drone, which, according to preliminary estimates, weighed approximately 25 kg, and its wingspan reached approximately one meter. The device also had a separate tail section.

Law enforcement began an investigation to determine what kind of UAV it was and why it crashed.
