Ukraine is a natural hotspot for the circulation of hantaviruses. The head of the Ministry of Health, Viktor Lyashko, announced this on May 15 in the Verkhovna Rada during the hour of questions to the government, reports a correspondent of the GORDON publication.
“True, our predominant variant of hantavirus infection is fever with renal syndrome, and what we see today in the media is with pulmonary syndrome,” Lyashko said.
The minister also added that the Ministry of Health has all the data on Ukrainian citizens who were crew members of the cruise ship MV Hondius, where the hantavirus outbreak occurred.
