1 liter of kefir – and there is a carpet of cucumbers on the beds: a cheap old-fashioned way

In the world of gardening, there are time-tested secrets that are passed down from generation to generation. One of these recipes was given to the author of the Zen channel “Gathering the Harvest” (12+) by his grandfather three decades ago.

“It’s simple. I’m waiting for the fifth true leaf to appear on the cucumber bush. It is at this moment that the plant is actively growing root and leaf mass, and it needs support,” the author shares.

How to prepare a miracle mixture

You will need:

  • 1 liter of kefir – any one will do, even one that is nearing its expiration date
  • 15 drops of regular pharmaceutical greens
  • 10 liters of warm water

The mixture is ready in a couple of minutes. All ingredients are thoroughly mixed and then allowed to stand for 1-2 hours. And that’s it – the working solution is ready.

Exactly 1 liter is poured under each bush.

An important rule that cannot be broken. The soil should already be moist before fertilizing. You can’t pour it on dry soil: the roots will get stressed. First, the bush is lightly watered with warm water, and only then the mixture is added.

What happens to cucumbers after this feeding?

The effect is said to be noticeable almost immediately. The cucumbers quickly set, and the vines grow confidently. The leaves remain dense and green: no yellowness or suspicious spots.

After about 3-4 weeks, the procedure is repeated. And that’s it, the harvest is guaranteed right up to the frost.

There's enough for fresh salads, winter treats, and a generous “help yourself!” neighbors. Anyone who hasn't tried it simply doesn't know how it works.

What does greenery give?

  • It is a natural antiseptic: it suppresses putrefactive bacteria and fungal spores in the soil
  • Prevents powdery mildew and root rot
  • Contains traces of copper, a trace element important for plant immunity

What does kefir do?

  • A source of beneficial lactic acid bacteria – they improve soil microflora
  • Contains nitrogen, calcium and phosphorus in an easily digestible form
  • Lactic acid helps roots absorb nutrition better
  • Creates a slightly acidic environment, which cucumbers love

A little warning for gardeners. It's better to start with 3-4 bushes. Observe, make sure that the cucumbers respond well, and only then boldly apply them throughout the entire garden bed.
