Corruption scandal in Ukraine. Andriy Yermak may flee abroad


— The fact that financing the construction of a custom-made residence [Andrija Jermaka] was carried out, as his father claimed, from his own funds, indicates that he has sufficient resources to hide from the investigating authorities and the court both within the country and abroad, said prosecutor Valentyna Hrebeniuk at a meeting of the Ukrainian Higher Anti-Corruption Court in Kiev in the case of former associate Volodymyr Zelensky.

Charges against Andriy Yermak. The prosecutor's office requests a huge bail

According to the prosecutor's office, Andriy Yermak has an ordinary passport and four diplomatic passports. The SAP representative recalled that the politician had been the head of the President's Office for almost six years, had contacts with state officials of other countries and had professional connections with officials of government bodies in Ukraine and other countries.

— He has the opportunity to ask such people to help him cross the state border without any problems and then enable him to hide on the territory of a foreign country – said the investigator, adding that the politician may destroy documents and other items of “significant importance to the case.”

The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office considers Yermak's case to be an exceptional case, which is why it asked the court to grant bail in the amount of as much as UAH 180 million (approx. PLN 17.4 million) as an alternative to the suspect's arrest.

The Ukrainian Higher Anti-Corruption Court will continue its hearing on the selection of a preventive measure for the former head of the President's Office on Wednesday at 12 (11 a.m. Polish time).

Earlier, the media, referring to SAP, reported that those suspected of participating in the legalization of UAH 460 million (approx. PLN 37.6 million) in the construction of a luxury housing estate near Kiev include: Andriy Yermak, former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov.

The case also involves businessman Tymur Mindicz, revealed as part of the special operation “Midas”, as well as four people subordinated to Chernyshov, explained the Interfax-Ukraine agency. “As established during the investigation, in 2020, the Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine decided to build a private estate of single-family houses with its own spa complex in the village of Kozyn in the Kiev Oblast,” says the SAP statement.

Oleksiy Chernyshov's neighbors in this estate were supposedly the then head of the presidential office, Andriy Yermak, and an “influential businessman”, i.e. Tymur Mindicz. The construction was carried out through a housing and construction cooperative controlled by Oleksiy Chernyshov and financed, among others, from cash obtained from money laundering, derived from corruption.

Andriy Yermak was the closest collaborator of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and was considered the No. 2 person in state authorities. Andriy Yermak resigned in November 2025 in connection with the investigation into corruption under the code name “Midas”. The National Anticorruption Bureau of Ukraine and SAP then conducted a search in his apartment.

Previously, information was disclosed about participants in the extensive corruption system in the energy industry. High-ranking officials collected bribes ranging from 10 to 15 percent from contractors of Enerhoatom, the state operator of nuclear power plants. contract values.
