Starmer said that during the summit he talked with leaders of other countries about implementing the agreement. — Britain can play a special role in monitoring the ceasefire, as well as in withdrawing Hamas' capabilities and weapons, drawing on its own experience in Northern Ireland, said the Prime Minister, probably referring to the demilitarization of the Irish Republican Army (IRA).

Asked whether former British Prime Minister Tony Blair would be part of the new peace council governing the Gaza Strip, as Trump mentioned in September, Starmer replied that “that would have to be decided by others.” — I think the composition of the peace council is still under discussion. As for me, I must admit that I am much more interested in practical steps, he added.

Earlier, the Prime Minister's office in Downing Street announced that the UK would allocate £20 million for humanitarian aid, including ensuring access to clean water and building sanitary facilities for tens of thousands of people living in the Gaza Strip. This is part of the £116 million fund that the British government plans to allocate to help the Palestinians. Since January 2025, London has already provided £74 million in lifesaving aid, including food and shelter.
