The White House has invited Tesla chief Elon Musk and Apple CEO Tim Cook to accompany President Donald Trump on his visit to China this week, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing a White House official.
According to the publication, the delegation that will participate in Trump's summit with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, would also include David Solomon, from Goldman Sachs, Stephen Schwarzman, from Blackstone, Larry Fink, from BlackRock, Jane Fraser, from Citigroup, and Dina Powell McCormick, from Meta Platforms, notes Reuters.
The group, made up of several top executives, will accompany Trump on a visit that the US president hopes will lead to a series of trade deals and procurement contracts with Beijing, the publication said.
The companies mentioned did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.
China has announced that Trump will pay a state visit from May 13 to 15, according to the official Xinhua News Agency.
The two heads of state are to discuss Iran and trade disputes, AFP notes.
Trump will arrive in Beijing on Wednesday evening, Anna Kelly, the deputy spokeswoman for the US executive, told the press on Sunday.
A welcoming ceremony and a bilateral meeting with Xi Jinping will be held on Thursday morning, followed by a visit to the Temple of Heaven on Thursday afternoon and a state banquet in the evening, she detailed. The two presidents will have tea together, then have a working lunch on Friday, before Donald Trump leaves for Washington.
