Weekend Trending in Bucharest, August 30-31-Cinema under the stars, the biggest aviation show, ancient kitchen and “porcarii”

The city is a little different at the end of August, being caught between the nostalgia of summer holidays and autumn that knocks on the door with festivals, premiere, but also agitation and more crowded streets. In the last summer weekend of 2025 we have the planes that brush the sky, the big screens move under the open sky, and in Mogoșoaia the largest festival in Eastern Europe dedicated exclusively to families is held.

You can drink coffee at Black Habit (Griviței 77) and you can stay here for Brunch or a pizza, especially since they have a generous and shady terrace, Child and Pet Friendly. In addition, behind the terrace there is also a wonderful plant store – Primitive Plants (Griviței 73). You can wander here among herbal shelves and discover all kinds of interesting species and things about gardening.

If you want to eat something good and traditional, you have to go to the latest Romanian restaurant in the city – Ancestor (Dudești Calea 101A). The place belongs to those who have previously dealt with beautyfood, and now they make “modern cuisine that is inclined in the face of the past.”

Or maybe you like the “pigs”. In this case, it's necessarily to go to Porcier.Food (The road orchids 31-33, IDM Basarab complex). This is the newest Food Truck in Bucharest, which has already conquered a few influences on the food area. They have a modest, but impact menu, three sandwiches that are called the scope in the envelope, the jerk and the coast in bread.

On Saturday, Calea Victoriei turns again into urban promenade, with good will and street artists that bring a holiday air at the end of the month. But only for one day: Sunday, the boulevard becomes a competition for cycling enthusiasts at L'étape Romania by Tour de France. If you want to walk around among the historical buildings, schedule your walk on Saturday.

For families, Mogoșoaia becomes the epicenter of fun. The Big Little Festival brings three days of concerts for all tastes and all ages – from Smiley and Theo Rose to Mircea Vintilă and Ducu Bertzi. But the festival is not just about music: there are seven thematic areas of play, science and relaxation. A kind of mini-universe thought as a weekend vacation for the whole family, it is not recommended that “the largest festival in Eastern Europe dedicated exclusively to families”. The price of a ticket is 110 lei per day.

Also on the idea of experiences, but with another intensity, the H Brewery hosts International Tattoo Convention. Over 150 Romanian and international artists transform the skin into a living art gallery. Between a Jurjak or White Mahala concert and an adrenaline frow, the convention is the kind of event where you do not just see tattoos, but to breathe their culture. The entrance per day is 53 lei.

If you prefer the intimate atmosphere, Sunday evening, Django Sound Quartet brings gypsy jazz aroma to The Great Hill Music Club in Cișmigiu. The wine is cold, the notes flow, and the place has some secret garden hidden in the center of the city.

And at the Hard Rock Cafe, all the weekend is about classic cocktails (at a cocktail you receive a free one) and live music – from Răzvan Ștef Band to Funhouse, with free entry.

The sky will also be filled with the show: Bias 2025, the largest air show in Romania, takes place at Baneasa Airport. From acrobatic bands to the latest aircraft, the program is for the whole family and, more importantly, the entrance is free. If you have a child passionate about airplanes or you just want to feel the engines vibrating to the sternum, that's the time. More here.

For Saturday night, another type of intensity comes from Random House, where Nidal climbs on stage with alternatives, Indie and blues – a concert that promises a direct and sincere connection with the public.

Theater & film

At the theater and film chapter, Ada Gales arrives on Friday night at the Masca theater summer, where she will get on the amphitheater stage not in a classic role, but in a soul meeting with the public. The entrance is made from 6:30 pm, and the discussion, moderated by Laura Ivăncioiu, starts at 7:30 pm. It will be a summer evening with questions and answers, confessions and curiosities, in the spirit of the theater summer – a festival that aims to create community, not just a show.

At Cinema Elvire Popesco continues the retrospective anonymous, with independent films for those who prefer to see something other than blockbustere.

Also, in the Road of the Taberei, the Cinema under the weekend happens on the weekend. On Saturday, it runs “Transformers One”, and on Sunday “back to the future” – perhaps the most suitable film for a summer end, when we watch with nostalgia in the past and curiosity to autumn. In addition, you can see the movie right from the lake, from boats.

In the cinemas we also have three premieres. “The Roses” enters theaters with a mixture of passion and domestic tension. The story follows a couple who, under the mask of perfection displayed in the society, hides resentments and small competitions, ready to explode when career plans collapse. It is a film that talks about the fragility of relationships and how love can sometimes turn into battlefield. Ideal for those who prefer intense family dramas, with nerve and subtext.

For those who want adrenaline, the “caight stealing” moves the story in the New York of the 1990s and places it directly in the heart of the interlope world. A former baseball player, missed and vulnerable, wakes up in a spiral of violence and survival. The film promises a fast pace, dark atmosphere and a protagonist with which you empathize, even if you make wrong choices. An urban thriller that smells like hot asphalt and danger to every corner.

The stubbles come back with a new adventure, “SMURFS”, in which Pope Ștrumf is abducted by Gargamel and his allies. SMURFETTE takes the reins and leads the blue team in a foray into the real world, where friendship and solidarity become the strongest weapons. It is a colorful and optimistic film, which combines classic humor with a current message about courage and destiny. Perfect for a family exit or for anyone needs a dose of childhood on an end of summer.
