No one will leave the PNL, nor will the party split, says Rareş Bogdan

The PNL MEP Rareş Bogdan, a critic of the PNL president, the dismissed prime minister Ilie Bolojan, says that no one will leave the PNL, nor will the party split. He specified that, although there were opposing opinions in the internal meetings and each leader expressed his point of view, once a decision was taken by vote it would be respected.

Rareş Bogdan, PNL MEP, claimed on Sunday, in a statement sent to the spotmedia.ro publication, that no one will leave the party nor will the party split, after the Bolojan Government was dismissed by a no-confidence motion, and some of the liberals would have wanted to remain in government, News.ro quotes.

The liberal says that, although he is not a supporter of the current president of the party, this does not mean that he does not talk to him and that he does not collaborate.

Rareş Bogdan states, in the message sent, that he was one of those who announced to Ilie Bolojan, as early as last June, after the presidential elections, when he was appointed prime minister, that the PSD does not want reforms.

“I saw how they behaved in the Coalition meetings, three years in a row. Unfortunately, for months, in the case of Ilie Bolojan, and years, in the case of Ciucă or Cîţu, the PSD embraced them and put them to sleep”, declared the liberal MEP.

According to the statements of Rareş Bogdan, although there was a tense meeting of the National Political Bureau – where it was decided to enter the Opposition – no one will leave the PNL, and the decision of the party leadership will be respected, which represents a blow to the current PSD leadership, pressured to return to government as soon as possible.

“I entered politics in PNL and from here I will leave when the need arises. Only PNL and that's all. This does not mean that I would ever be an applause. I certainly am not and I will not be. But I am also not a person who does not respect the decisions of the party. A decision was made, I respect it – and the latter, the one without PSD, really suits me. It is to my taste”, emphasized the PNL leader in the message sent to spotmedia.ro.

Rareş Bogdan also appreciates that 2 years and 8 months in the opposition “means a lot, a lot”: “The electoral basins are very well defined at the present time, and the trends in Europe show very clearly that we are heading in a certain direction, where the votes are heading towards conservatism”.
