History has shown us that, when the aggressors are not stopped in advance, the cost of peace becomes unbearable, on Wednesday, at the Southern-Southeast Europe, held in Odessa, the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu. The leader from Chisinau stressed that if Ukraine loses the war, the Russian Federation will not stop in the Republic of Moldova, Agerpres informs.
“This war is not just about Ukraine. It is about the future of Europe. Moreover, it is about the international order based on rules. We do a lot, but Russia has more weapons, more mobilization, more propaganda. If we want to restore peace in Europe – and we must equate and overcome these capabilities. Lies, manipulation, blackmail, infiltration of our political systems.
In his opinion, “the current approach – the slow, fragmented, hesitant support – is not enough and has never been.”
“Russia mobilizes faster, on a larger scale, it has more resources, more capacities and fewer constraints. Ukraine receives less and too late. This has to change. Ukraine's struggle is not the struggle of someone else. It is our struggle. An independent and European Ukraine is not a gesture of charity. It is a vital interest. The cost of peace becomes unbearable.
According to the Moldovan president, Russia wants the country to distance itself from both Ukraine and the EU.
“Russia wants a Moldovan who turns the back of Ukraine and the European Union. West – he wants to use Moldova against Ukraine and the European Union. We don't have to allow this. Moldova contributes because he knows what is in the game. We know that the security of Ukraine is Moldova's security,” Maia Sandu drew attention.
She mentioned that that is why over 160 Ukrainian geniuses were trained, over 100,000 refugees were housed, the transit of Ukrainian cereals is facilitated, energy equipment for reconstruction, investments, railways and bridges, which will one day support the reconstruction process were made.
“To the leaders of this meal and to those in the European capitals and in the world: not to be the generation that hesitated! Let us be the generation that was firm, acted with courage and protected peace. Together we can defend Ukraine. And, by doing so, we can defend our common future-in a united, democratic and free Europe.”
11 heads of states, governments or leaders of parliaments, Ukraine, Republic of Moldova, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Greece, attended the meeting in Odessa.
