A cruise ship with a hantavirus outbreak arrived in Tenerife. Video


The cruise ship MV Hondius, on which a hantavirus outbreak occurred, arrived on the Canary island of Tenerife on the morning of May 10. This was reported by the Spanish publication El País.

The day before, Tenerife residents protested against the ship's scheduled arrival.

Passengers will be checked by doctors. Those who show no symptoms will be evacuated to airports.

The evacuation should begin at 8.00 local time (9.00 Kyiv time).


According to media reports, 325 national guardsmen and 33 police officers will take part in it.

Spanish officials said Spanish citizens would be the first to leave the ship, followed by groups of citizens from other countries.

Law enforcement officers published a video showing the arrival of the plane and preparations for the evacuation of passengers.

According to Reuters, 30 crew members will remain on board and will go to the Netherlands, where the ship will be disinfected.
