The US explains its strikes against Iranian targets. “Self-defense actions”

As written in a statement by the command responsible for US forces in the Middle East, American destroyers “repulsed unprovoked Iranian attacks and responded with strikes in self-defense.” The incident allegedly occurred during the ships' transit through the Strait of Hormuz to the Gulf of Oman.
This is what Iran's attack on US forces was supposed to look like
The Iranians were to attack the ships USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta and USS Mason using rockets, drones and small attack boats. None of the ships were hit.
“U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) eliminated threats and attacked Iranian military facilities responsible for attacks on U.S. forces, including missile and drone launchers, command and control centers and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance nodes” – it was written.
“CENTCOM does not seek escalation, but remains in position and stands ready to protect U.S. forces,” the command said.
US retaliation? American media reports
Earlier, Fox News reported that US forces had attacked ports of Bandar Abbas and on the island of Keshm located on the Strait of Hormuz, and also installations in Minaba in the south of the country. Television suggested that it could have been retaliation for Monday's Iranian attacks on US ships, merchant ships and ports in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
The U.S. response to these attacks at the time — minimizing their significance — was intended to incite the ire of America's Middle Eastern allies. In response, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait banned the US from using bases and airspace in these countries. These restrictions were to be lifted on Thursday.
