The leader of SOS Romania, MEP Diana Șoșoacă, participated, on Friday, at the reception organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bucharest, before May 9, when Russia celebrates Victory Day.

Diana Șoșoacă was present at the event organized by the Russian Embassy, where she talked with the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Romania, Vladimir Lipaev, informed SOS Romania in a press release.
His political formation justifies the visit as having the purpose of reaffirming “the need for Romania to become a sovereign actor again, capable of dialogue with all the powers of the world”.
According to the cited source, during the meeting, the MEP asked the Russian ambassador “to send an official message to the Romanian people on the occasion of the Victory Day celebration”.
“Diana Iovanovici-Soșoacă conveyed to His Excellency, Vladimir Lipaev that the act of courage of the Romanian army was decisive for the outcome of the conflict and for changing the balance of power in Europe. Romania was not a simple ally of conjuncture, but a force that paid with blood for the right to be independent and sovereign and to stand dignified among the nations of the world”the statement also states.

At the same time, the head of SOS also met with the ambassador of North Korea, Ri Sang Rim. The political formation claims that this meeting scores “the importance of full diplomatic openness and the refusal to accept international isolation imposed by foreign interests”.
“I participated in the reception on May 9, Victory Day, at the Russian Embassy to show that our country is not a colony, but a state that has the courage to dialogue as equals. The fact that we talked directly with the ambassadors of Russia and North Korea are acts of national dignity and diplomacy. I asked his Excellency, Mr. Ambassador Lipaev, a message for the Romanians, because we want peace and respect, not war and servitude! Romania must discuss with all states to protect its future!”said Diana Sosoacă, according to the press release.

Over time, Diana Șoșoacă made several visits to the Russian Embassy in Bucharest. In November last year, the MEP also participated in a limited high-level meeting held in Sochi, Russia, where she met with Dmitri Medvedev, former president of Russia and current vice-president of the Security Council.
A month before, she had attended the anniversary gala of Russia Today, a station banned in the EU, where she had the opportunity to meet Vladimir Putin and made controversial statements about the European Union, the war in Ukraine and freedom of expression in Europe. The event took place in Moscow.
